Promoters

The Grana Padano PDO cheese Protection Consortium was founded on 18th June 1954 with the aim of bringing together all producers, maturing warehouses and traders of this cheese. Today, the Consortium, a no profit organisation, is engaged in promoting and protecting Grana Padano all over the world, supervising over its production and trade, to ensure that consumers can always bring an original, nutritional and genuine product to their table.

The NEXT GENERATION PRO Association was founded in March 2023 and aims to bring together organisations from which organic products and quality brands are created to network and maintain the excellence of one of Italy’s most distinctive and well-known activities, that of winemaking. Denominazione d’Origine Protetta

“Denominazione di origine” è un nome che identifica un prodotto: originario di un luogo, regione o, in casi eccezionali, di un paese determinati; la cui qualità o le cui caratteristiche sono dovute essenzialmente o esclusivamente ad un particolare ambiente geografico ed ai suoi intrinseci fattori naturali e umani; e le cui fasi di produzione si svolgono nella zona geografica delimitata.

La Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) è utilizzata in Italia in enologia per certificare la zona di origine delimitata della raccolta delle uve utilizzate per la produzione del prodotto sul quale è apposto il marchio. Esso viene utilizzato per designare un prodotto di qualità e rinomato, le cui caratteristiche sono connesse all’ambiente naturale ed ai fattori umani e rispettano uno specifico disciplinare di produzione approvato con decreto ministeriale. La classificazione DOC è stata ricompresa nella categoria comunitaria DOP.

Protected Designation of Origin

«Designation of Origin» is a name which identifies a product: originating in a specific place, region or, in exceptional cases, a country; whose quality or characteristics are essentially or exclusively due to a particular geographical environment with its inherent natural and human factors; and the production steps of which all take place in the defined geographical area.

Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) stands for Controlled Designation of Origin. In Italy it is applied in oenology to certify the delimited harvest area of the grapes used for the production of the wine on which this mark is affixed. It is used to designate a quality and renowned product, whose characteristics are related to the natural environment and human factors and comply with specific production specifications approved by ministerial decree. The DOC classification has been included in the EU category PDO
